Lace Me

You already know that I love leather.

It has the attractive feature of making you instantly look cool. But there's a time when I want something else that's sexy and more feminine. And that is where my love of lace starts. Although I try to refrain from just telling people I like lace and leather. Else, they might think I'm into something completely different.

Well... you never know...

All jokes aside, the reason I enjoy lace is for it's elegant qualities. It softens your look and adds quality, but can also add some sultry sexiness. You have to do it right, however, or you might end up with a less-than-sexy granny look.

If you want to learn the different options of trying out lace, look no further! Here are some great ways to translate this trend into your own style:

Designer Series: Zuhair Murad

Zuhair Murad designs beautiful gowns.

I have no idea how the Beirut-based designer snuck up on me. At first, designer dresses that caught my eye in that 'this is is amazingly gorgeous' way belong to Marchesa. When I assumed a few dresses that I've recently seen were Marchesa, imagine my surprise to find out that they were all Zuhair Murad.

His dresses are very couture and almost always has an element that will surprise you and keep you intrigued. These are some of the designs that have caught my attention, and I hope it does the same to you.

So, what do you think? Do these designs completely showcase the capabilities of this designer? (Besides showing the obsession with skin and sheer :)!) Murad is appearing on the red carpet more and more these days, and I can see exactly why celebrities would be proud to wear his brand.

Icon: Zoe Saldana

Photo from the Huffington Post
When I look up photos for certain trends or topics that I want to talk about, some of my favorite celebrities keep popping up. These stylish, tasteful celebrities are people that I admire, not just for the amazing things they have accomplished, but also for their amazing wardrobe. One of my favorites is Zoe Saldana.

Zoe is a very talented and well-sought-after actress, and a very strong, sexy, and fashionable woman. Her more recent style choices have shown that she likes to take trends and make them her own. She can be seen in more tomboyish clothing with a feminine piece, an attention-grabbing, glamorous dress, or dark and sleek clothing that shows off her bad-ass persona. Regardless of what she wears, there's always a touch of elegance to her. She isn't afraid to try new things, and that is what I love about her style. Here are some looks that I admire from her.

Sheer Greatness

One trend that's delightfully popping up is sheer material. Tops, bottoms, dresses, jumpsuits... how do turn see-through clothing into something classy? As long as the major parts are covered, and the material doesn't look cheap, you've got yourself a winner. Here are some of my favorite looks:

We vote Zoe Saldana best dressed at the 2012 CFDA Awards!  This black, sheer, Prabal Gurung gown is to die for!

Would I wear any of this? I would want to. As with most of the things I love, you have to have the confidence to pull it off as well. Unless it's all one piece, try to pair the sheer item with a tasteful opaque piece. Mix, match, and have fun!

Seeing Red

Click here << and think about what you feel.

It's a large photo of the color red. Color, as you know, can elicit many emotions. Red is one of those bold, fiery colors that bring about thoughts of passion, anger, seduction, warmth, and spice. Adding it as a pop of color to an outfit brings an eye-catching element to your look. Wearing all red, however, is for the most daring.

I personally love to see people in red. It shows confidence and sexiness. Some great designers have done wonderful things with the color! These photos are a special fashion dedication to red. Pick and choose, my dears, pick and choose...
Red trench, black dress, polka dot stockings. Is the boa over the top? Depends on how bold you want to be!

Tom Jones Rain Boots. Bring some attention to your feet.

Get creative! Paint your nails red, wear red lipstick, wear a red belt, grab a red purse, get some red accessories for winter. Walk outside with your head held high because you will be sure to grab some attention!

Origami Fashion

This week, I was introduced to a new apparel making technique. The art of origami fashion.

Origami Dress
Origami is the Japanese paper-folding art. Intrigued, I researched ideas and looked at plenty of photos and videos, coming to the conclusion that it's amazing! Some of the three-dimensional elements take the designs to an all new level, and I became completely impressed.

I constructed my very first paper crane today while watching videos of the TR Cutting School by Shingo Sato. Like the fashion technique, it's quite complicated, but the results are worth it. When you have the time, check out some of the videos. Here are a few noteworthy pieces that caught my eye:

Beautiful Design by Thierry Mugler. Very strong angular pieces and sharp direction of the shoulder.
The Shingo Sato Sleeve. Amazing 3D sleeves to add interest to the design.
The best part is that the TR youtube channel features tutorials so that you can start your very own origami fashion project! Take a look at some and try the techniques on a smaller scale. If that's too intimidating, practice some plain ole' origami first. When you're ready, dive in!

Disney Inspired

Halloween is coming up and it's one of the most fun times of the year when it comes to dressing up. It's the day that you can be whoever you want, any person, any character.

But sometimes, you can be a subtle version of your favorite character, taking inspiration from their outfits to create a daily look for yourself.

Some of the most popular looks to get ideas from happen to be Disney characters. Take a look at these and ask yourself, would you really wear any of these?
